On this day, people exchange jokes, and even create fake news or gossip, trying to surprise their loved ones and friends. Although there are no clear sources that would confirm the beginnings of this tradition, it is assumed that it dates back to the Middle Ages.
💦Śmigus-Dyngus, also known as lany poniedziałek (Wet Monday), is a Polish Easter Monday tradition which, in short, involves people throwing copious amounts of water at each other. Pouring water is supposed to bring health and prosperity. Once upon a time, there were even guides that told how to irrigate sweethearts. Throwing water on the girl was somehow distinguishing her among her companions. 🌞Happy Easter Monday 😇

😉💦Celebrating Prima Aprilis Day and Wet Monday on one day, i.e. April 1, 2024, is a special phenomenon.
