Our Lord called for a special feast day to be celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. Today, we know that feast as Divine Mercy Sunday, named by St. John Paul II at the canonization of St. Faustina on April 30, 2000. The worthy reception of the Eucharist on Divine Mercy Sunday is sufficient to obtain the extraordinary graces promised by Jesus. As a gift to humanity, which sometimes seems bewildered and overwhelmed by the power of evil, selfishness, and fear, the Risen Lord offers His love that pardons, reconciles, and reopens hearts to love. It is a love that converts hearts and gives peace. How much the world needs to understand and accept Divine Mercy!- Preached St. Pope John Paul II.Today, an important spiritual and Polish community event for the community in Oshawa. Memories from over fifty years ago come back, when on September 15, 1969, Cardinal Karol Wojty\u0142a visited the Polish church in Oshawa, which less than 10 years later was elected pope. We want to recall memory and teaching on this Canadian piece of land, deepen faith, experiencing this special presence and intercession of St. St. John Paul II – called the Apostle of reconciliation and peace. I thank each of you for your presence and for all your help in preparing this historic celebration. Saint John Paul II, be with us from today and intercede for us.
